Assessment Services

One Future has a team of Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal qualified, tertiary-trained staff to respond to individual and organisational need. We offer a rapid-response service designed to support organisations in completing urgent assessments, as well as planned assessments.

Foster and Kinship Assessment

One Future has degree-qualified, independent assessors ready to complete foster and kinship care assessments, both provisional and full authorisation. Our staff are Step-by-Step trained in order to meet agency requirements as needed. We can offer Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal assessors and are able to undertake face-to-face and virtual assessments.

Guardianship Assessment

Guardianship orders are a way of helping ensure a child has a stable, nurturing and safe home, and achieving permanency.  Guardianship assessments are undertaken to ensure the suitability of the carers to meet the needs of the child/young person. Our reports are submitted to the Children's Court to guide the Court's decision about whether a guardianship order is the best option to meet the needs of the child.

Parenting Capacity Assessment

Parenting capacity assessments are specialised assessments to assess the parent's capacity to care for a child and focus on identifying strengths and risks in relation to the six dimensions of parenting as well as taking into account the impact of wider factors on parenting and the child's development. Our assessors are highly skilled and work closely with agencies to support permanency planning and restoration.

Best Interest Placement Assessment

Best interest placement assessments can be undertaken to help decision-making when a child or young person is in care and requires an independent assessment to determine what placement is in a child's best interest. These assessments are often complex and involve working with multiple parties to complete. As with all our assessments, the focus is on the child; their safety and wellbeing.

Family Time Review Assessment

Family time review assessments are undertaken by our independent assessors to inform family time planning and make recommendations around frequency, length and type of contact. Family time reviews involve consulting with family and the child/young person and consider a child's age, development, culture, quality/nature of relationship with a parent/sibling and safety in making any decision.

Individual Needs Assessment

Individual needs assessments focus on an individual child/young person's needs across their childhood to ensure any decisions made in relation to where they are living, who they are living with or family contact are based on thorough, informed assessments which take into account the child/young person's safety, wellbeing, culture, age, family and identify strengths as well as risks that need to be addressed.

Quality Assesssment Framework (QAF)

At One Future we guarantee our assessments through our certified Quality Assessment Framework (QAF) to ensure that the assessment meets the desired quality standards of our clients. Each assessment is sent to our Quality Assurance Team who examines and marks the work against the QAF. This ensures quality of service every time for our clients, or we do it again for free.
